The Metaphysics of an Imagination

swintons:

Jean-Pierre Léaud in the François Truffaut’s Antoine Doinel series: The 400 Blows (1959), Antoine and Colette (1962), Stolen Kisses (1968), Bed and Board (1970), and Love on the Run (1979).

In my opinion Jean-Pierre Léaud is the best French actor of his generation, and it would be unfair not to mention that, to him, Antoine Doinel is only one of the characters he has played, one of the fingers of his hand, one of the costumes he wears, one of the schools of his childhood.
